The Endless Storm

Yesterday I spent an hour in my car during a storm due to COVID, waiting for my dog at the vet. I got to thinking, what if a storm battered my car for hours on end? Use your imagination in this stormy writing prompt!

Write a piece where your character cannot leave their vehicle for whatever reason. A storm comes and pounds for an endless time. It’s that hard rain that makes it hard to hear or think. The lack of visibility, strong wind, and close lightning prevents driving or leaving the car. Even if you could, there’s nowhere to flee close by. Eventually, the time, the noise, and the anxiety begin to drive even the most level-headed person insane.

BRAINSTORM: What goes through their head? Are they alone or with someone to keep them calm (or freak them out more)? How do they try to cope?
